UAE: Two arrested for forging coronavirus test results

Dubai -- Two workers at a coronavirus testing centre gave out fake negative results in exchange for cash.
They were accused of taking bribes from commuters travelling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Dubai Police arrested them after the fraud came to light.
The spokesperson of the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Prosecution said that two employees at a test centers has been arrested for exploiting their positions to fake the test results of “COVID-19” in exchange for money.
The spokesman added that within the framework of the efforts made by the authorities to combat the novel coronavirus “COVID-19” and limit its spread, and follow up on the commitment of citizens and residents to the instructions set by the competent authorities, Dubai Police arrested two employees working in one of the test centers and referred them to the Emergency and Crisis Prosecution . The accused used negative samples previously saved in the database that belong to other uninfected persons, to use the negative test results to enter Abu Dhabi.
Legal action has been taken against the suspects as the case referred to the public prosecutor.
He said that the criminal actions of the two defendants face imprisonment and a fine of not less than Dh 150,000 and not exceeding Dh 750,000.
