UAE Announces New Guidelines Ahead Of National Day, Christmas And New Year Celebrations

The UAE government is slowly unlocking in phases and is putting strict guidelines in place to ensure the safety of its residents. And now ahead of its National Day and other festivities followed after that, the authorities have announced new guidelines for the celebrations. The shared guidelines will have to be mandatorily followed by all the citizens to enjoy the festivals.

The National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Authority announced that several precautionary measures are required to stop the spread of the virus. For gatherings and events, concerts are being allowed or the time being, however, organisers will have to receive a permit from the relevant authorities and implement strict safety measures.

For the workplace, employees cannot have grand celebrations at the workplace with other co-workers; they can only decorate the office by putting up flags and other decor items. Co-workers cannot gather together to watch the fireworks as well. Besides this, the rules recommend holding remote digital celebrations only and encourage reservations in advance for approved events lasting no more than three to four hours.

For celebrations and gathering, all celebrations must be held keeping public health, physical distancing, regulations and policies, digital technology, sterilization and cleaning in mind. Residents are further reminded to wear masks at all times, allow temperature checks, wash and sanitise their hands and follow all safety guidelines.

Besides this, a physical distance of at least 2 metres is also necessary for public spaces. For private parties and gatherings, they are not permitted during the celebrations, and the NCEMA adds, “stress the need for everyone to follow existing safety measures, not to hold gatherings or marches, prohibit the circulation, distribution/exchange of celebratory gifts and food”.
