Two have been detained for spreading rumours about the death of 5 family members due to Covid-19.

The public prosecutor said that the reports were baseless.

"The incident that was broadcast on Abu Dhabi Sports Channel is false and fabricated, the family does not exist and the story is completely fictitious made up," the prosecution said.

"We are seeking a prosecution and are currently investigating, in order to clarify the situation and elements of what was published and the real motives behind the crime, the entities involved and people behind it," it added.

"We have not and will not be lenient with anyone who doesn't follow their duty and is irresponsible, we will apply the law firmly and decisively, given that the recklessness in sharing inaccurate information has a negative effect on society," the NCEMA said, citing the Public Prosecution.

A quick reminder to what lead to up this, a T.V program in Abu Dhabi were looking for people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, they received a call from a Doctor who had claimed to have lost 5 of his member, prior to the interview, the T.V team researched the Doctor and found that he is in fact, a credible Doctor, however it turned out that the story was fake, and fabricated.
