Dubai -- No drowning or marine accidents were reported in Dubai and nearby valleys due to the unstable weather conditions during the past 24 hours.
Lt Colonel Ali Al-Naqbi, Director of Maritime Rescue in Dubai Police, confirmed that Dubai Police have stepped up the level of readiness to deal with any incidents in the mountainous areas and places of running flood and neighboring areas.
“The force has also stepped up the level of readiness in the desert areas, which have been recently popular among members of the public due to change in temperatures,” Al-Naqbi said.
Al-Naqbi also added that Dubai Police have increased the number of patrols in mountainous areas to be always ready to deal with emergencies 24 hours a day. “Residents are advised to stay away from places of water pools and valleys when the weather is unstable,” he noted.
Al-Naqbi further urged members of the public to call 999 in emergencies and to use Sail Safely feature -available via Dubai Police’s app- which helps warnings users about any delays during the trip; identify hazards; send distress requests directly to the Dubai Police; and facilitate rapid emergency response.
He also called on beachgoers to adhere to safety warnings, and swimmers not to venture further than 300-500 meters and comply with advisories related to maritime currents. “If the flag was red then it is not allowed to swim due to rough conditions of the sea and high waves,” Lt Col Al-Naqbi explained.
