Nike's all-black Colin Kaepernick jersey marking 4 years since he took a knee sells out in less than a minute

Colin Kaepernick Icon 2.0 jersey was released on Nike’s SNKRS app and Nike website

Nike released an all-black jersey to commemorate the four years since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee to peacefully protest against systemic racism and social injustice during the National Anthem.

The Icon Jersey 2.0, which retails for $150, went on sale Thursday morning and sold out in less than a minute, Nike confirmed.

Nike gear focused on Kaepernick has been a hot commodity for years now: The original Kaepernick Icon jersey released last year reportedly sold out in less than a day, and Kaepernick Icon T-shirt sold out in a matter of hours, too. Nike has not clarified how many jerseys or shirts were available in those runs, either.

Fans expressed their frustration and disbelief on social media that they were not able to buy their jersey on Nike’s site. Some pointed to bots and quick-fingered resellers as the culprits, while others blamed Nike for intentionally creating a small number to play up the exclusivity of the jersey.
