Dubai Police Innovation Lab discusses Cyclists Safety

Dubai Police Security Innovation Lab, in cooperation with the force’s strategic partners, organised workshop about road safety for bicycle users.

Entitled “Cycling is a Lifestyle”, the one-day workshop will gather traffic safety experts and

cycling professionals to discuss the world best practices in this field including the Copenhagenize Index- the most comprehensive and holistic ranking of bicycle-friendly cities, and the German experience in ensuring the safety of cyclists.

According to Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of Dubai Traffic Police, the workshop will host three discussion panels covering the topics of cycling-related laws and legislations, cycling infrastructure, and the safety of cyclists, followed by recommendations and feedback session.

Brigadier Al Mazrouei affirmed that Dubai Police’s efforts towards encouraging the use of bicycles in an organised and systematic framework are a translation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who has called local authorities to provide suitable alternatives that motivate the residents and visitors of the emirate to practice cycling, in a way that achieves a number of goals and benefits in several aspects.

The “Cycling is a Lifestyle” is organised in partnership with: The Executive Council of Dubai, the Dubai Public Prosecution, the Supreme Committee for Legislations, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Dubai Sports Council, the Department of Economic Development (DED), the Emirates Cycling Federation, the Dubai Municipality, the UAE Insurance Authority, cycling events organisers, cyclists and real estate development partners regarding bike lanes, and the Board of Directors of Dubai Police Stations, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and bike suppliers
